Group games in a city: a scavenger hunt for large groups.

What group game works for a large group in a city?

Urban Passport is a city-game app built for large groups: one game code holds up to 100 participants, split into teams that move through a city on their own. The organiser builds the route beforehand in the Host Portal — real places, one question per stop — and building is free. On the day the group joins as guests, without an account per person, and one phone per team is enough, so a group of 60 needs around ten to twelve devices rather than sixty. A question can only be answered at the place itself, because the app confirms by GPS within a radius of 18 to 75 metres. Every team's score runs live against a time limit the organiser sets, and a podium closes the round. Unlike a booked guide, nobody has to lead the group and no per-person ticket is sold.

Building the route is free. The app is live on the App Store: download it, share one code, go.

How it runs

Which icebreaker activities work for large groups outdoors?

The problem with a large group is not the activity, it is the standing around. Splitting 60 people into ten teams that each walk their own order through the same set of stops removes the queue entirely: everyone starts at once, nobody waits for a turn, and the score board gives strangers something to talk about within the first ten minutes. A round of five to six stops takes about 90 minutes, which fits a conference break or an afternoon before dinner.

01

Build the route

02

Split into teams

Up to 100 participants in one game. One smartphone per team is enough, not one per head.

03

Share one code

Everyone joins by code or QR as guests, without an account per person.

04

Follow it live

Every team's score runs against the time limit you set. A podium closes the round.

Sizes and prices

What does a corporate scavenger hunt cost?

Building the route costs nothing; the game is paid for by size. Friends Game – up to 6 devices is 14,99 €, Private Game – up to 10 is 49,99 €, Class Game – up to 35 is 399 € and Large Group Game – up to 100 is 699 €. For a team event of 80 people that is under 9 € a head, with no guide fee and no per-person ticket on top. There is no minimum group size and no booking window.

Free is the app with one city — every spot, every stamp, and games with up to 6 devices; after that, each additional city and each self-built game costs. Class Game and Large Group Game we set up with you: send us the group size and the date, and we confirm scope and price by email beforehand.

Sizes in practice

How many teams can play at the same time?

As many as the group divides into, inside one game of up to 100 participants. Four to six people per team works best: large enough that nobody walks alone, small enough that everyone gets to answer. Teams do not have to walk the same order, so ten teams do not queue at the same stop. If the group is bigger than 100, you create a second game with its own code and run both at once.

One tool, many labels

Does it work for a company outing and a hen do alike?

Yes — the technology does not care who is playing. Company outings, conference breaks, language trips, hostel groups, stag and hen dos and school year groups all run the same round; what changes is the route and the questions the organiser writes. That is also why there is no separate product to choose between: the gate is whether the game belongs to you, not what your group is called.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about group games

How many people can play in one game?

Up to 100 participants in a Large Group Game. Below that the sizes are Class Game – up to 35, Private Game – up to 10 and Friends Game – up to 6 devices, where a device shared by two people counts once. For more than 100 you run a second game with its own code.

How long does a group city game take?

Five to six stops within walking distance make about 90 minutes; eight to ten stops make a half day. The organiser sets the time limit, so the round can also be cut to a 45-minute warm-up between sessions.

Does someone have to lead the group?

One person sets it up — builds the route, creates the game and shares the code. During the round that person does not have to walk along: the score of every team is visible live, and the app shows the way.

What happens if teams move at different speeds?

The time limit ends the round for everyone at the same moment, and the stops reached until then count. Teams do not have to walk the same order, so a fast team and a slow team never block each other.

What does the result look like at the end?

A podium with the team scores, plus the stamps each player collected. Everything earned goes into that player's own passport in the app and stays there after the event.

Does it work with international guests in English?

Yes. The app runs in English and German, and the questions are written by the organiser, so a route can be written entirely in English for an international group.
